With four young boys, we do not have a cute table. We don’t use place mats because I would be washing them constantly. We tried plastic wipe-off place mats, but they took the finish off the table since there was constantly moisture under them from the endless spills and wiping up! Table runners and candles are a definite “no.”
I have been wanting to find a way to display seasonal decorations and make the table look pleasant, especially now that we have a separate table for homeschooling. I was so excited to find this cute basket at Target! I filled it with fall things that are okay for the boys to touch – Indian corn, pumpkins, gourds, and pinecones. (I’m not encouraging the boys to play with them, but if they want to touch and feel them, that’s okay.) The basket keeps everything contained, and it’s easy to whisk it away if we need to wipe up a spill. I can change the contents of the basket depending on the season or holiday.
For those of you with young children – how do you decorate your table?

Great idea! Looks good
I *love* this! Something fun, simple, but still adorable! Definitely my kind of decorating! =)
