Racing pom pom balls is a great activity for a bad weather day, or a day that’s just too hot to play outside!

Today, I made two race tracks out of blue masking tape, and we had fun racing pom pom balls by blowing them along the track! This game was inspired by a post on hands on : as we grow.

Racing pom pom balls! I knew that my middle two boys (ages 6 and 4) would find it challenging to keep the pom pom ball on the track, but I wanted them to try because it’s so good for coordination. So I announced that the winner of each race would get to eat 5 chocolate chips! That got them moving!

Owen (age 4) was too cute to watch.

Racing pom pom balls! Aidan (age 10) lasted the longest at this game. He has a competitive streak, and would have kept racing and racing if his brothers would have been willing.

Racing pom pom balls! After they ran off to play something else, he invented another way to play – using a plastic spoon to roll a marble along the track. I tried racing him, and he won every time! The marble idea is also fantastic for hand-eye coordination.

Racing pom pom balls and marbles!
