Make your own glow-in-the-dark arrows for shooting in the dark! This activity is almost guaranteed to earn you the title of “Mom of the Year!” The credit for this idea goes completely to my 12 year old son, and it was a big hit for everyone in our family.

Make Your Own Glow-in-the-Dark Arrows - Works great with a Z Tech bow. Family fun idea!

The boys received Z Tek Bow and Arrow sets for Christmas, and they have been loving them! These bows shoot amazingly far. They are pretty much an outside toy (unless you have a large and durable play room!), but from what I have heard it is not good to leave the bows outside because the sun will break down the surgical tubing that makes them shoot. None of our bows have broken in 6 weeks time, and we have been very happy with them. The 12 year loves how powerful they are, and even the 4 year old can shoot his by himself.

Aidan had the idea to tape glow stick bracelets to the arrows to make them glow in the dark.

He used Scotch tape so that the glow sticks would still glow through the tape, but we ended up having to repair a few arrows. Duct tape would probably hold up better.

We had an unseasonably warm evening, and the boys all had a blast shooting their glowing arrows up and down the sidewalk!

We used Z Tek bows, but I’m sure this would work with any bow and arrow set.

Here’s what we used:

Bracelet Glowsticks – This is a pack of 100 for $8.49. Another good place to find glowsticks is the Target dollar spot.

And tape! That’s all you need!

How fun. We gave one of these to my older nephew for Christmas this year. I will pass this idea on to him! Have you ever used glow in the dark craft paint for anything? I have some but haven't used it yet. I'm sure my boys would love it though.

We haven't! Well, we used it to make glow-in-the-dark slime, but we haven't used it to actually paint on anything!

I was wondering about using glow in the dark paint and hopefully it would work a little longer...I want to try on our nerf bullets. I have to go buy the paint though. Anyone else try it already? Did it work? If so, how long does the paint keep working? :) so fun!

We have not tried the paint. Sounds like a good idea! Let us know if you try it and if it works!
