Challenge kids to turn that pile of LEGO® bricks into a fun fidget toy with something to fiddle with on each side. This is fun for any age!

We started working on a fidget cube at the same time we were building our super popular LEGO® Fidget Spinner, but we are just now getting around to posting it. (It was a crazy summer!)

I can’t decide which side is my favorite, but it might be the side with the ball joints.

In the photo below, you can see all four sides. Spin the wheel, fiddle with the sliding beads, rotate the arms, and turn the red handle. The red part rotates, and the yellow part also rotates, which makes it very satisfying to turn.

Ready to build a fidget cube with LEGO® bricks?

Step 1: Start with a 6 x 6 plate (flat brick). Add a row of bricks around the perimeter. Place a 1 x 1 plate on both of the front corners.

Step 2: For the sliding beads side, you’ll need four 1 x 1 bricks with a stud on the side, two 1 x 4 antennas, and 6 plastic pony beads.

Step 3: Slide 3 beads onto each antenna. Insert one end of the antenna into the 1 x 1 brick with a stud on the side. Attach the other end to the stud.

Step 4:

Step 5: Start working on the second side. Add a 1 x 4 brick and then two 1 x 2 plates with a ball on the side. Then find the bricks shown.

Step 6: Add the two 1 x 4 plates and the 1 x 1 plate. The yellow 1 x 1 plate will make more sense when we add the bricks to cover the top.

Step 7: Add two 1 x 2 bricks to the third side, as well as a 1 x 2 Technic brick (one hole). Then find the bricks shown.

Step 8: Place the turntable on top of the yellow 2 x 2 plate with a hole. Then stack the two 2 x 2 red round plates on top of that. The red bricks now turn.

Step 9: Build the 4th side with a 1 x 4 Technic brick, a 1 x 4 brick, and a 1 x 1 plate. Find a light gray connector pin, a wheel, two 2 x 6 plates, and a 6 x 6 plate.

Step 10: Use the connector pin to attach the wheel to the Technic brick. It should spin freely. Then build the top. Add the two 2 x 6 plates first, then the 6 x 6 plate on top.

*Note – there is not a 2 x 6 plate over the two yellow 1 x 1 plates and the edge with the beads. This gives the beads room to spin.
