All summer long, I am sharing ideas for screen-free fun (and learning) on the Frugal Fun for Boys facebook page!  Yesterday, I shared this simple idea that has kept my boys busy for going on three days now.

The idea is VERY simple:  A stack of drawing paper.  Plenty of colored pencils, crayons, or markers.  A 3 hole punch.  And a 3-ring binder for each child!

Make an art binder and contain those stacks of drawings!

My husband brought home box of binders when his company moved offices a couple months ago.  Aidan found the box in the closet and wanted to know if they could each have one to put drawings in.  I showed them how to use the 3 hole punch, and they have been busy, busy, busy!  The three older boys spent about 2 hours on drawings for their binders the first day, and at least an hour yesterday.  Then, they came downstairs and started working on them again today!  The appeal seems to be punching the holes and storing the drawings in the binder.  My oldest likes his because his binder has a theme – ninjas and samurais.  All of his drawings are ninjas, etc. and he made a cover for the whole thing.

The best part for me (other than the hours of being constructively occupied) is that all those stacks of drawings are CONTAINED!

Make an art binder and contain those stacks of drawings!

Be sure to come “like” the Frugal Fun for Boys facebook page if you haven’t already – I’m sharing two screen-free ideas each day.  One geared for younger kids (or all ages) and one geared toward older kids (8+).  Some ideas are new posts, some ideas are old posts, some ideas are from great bloggers around the web, and some ideas are just a simple quick suggestion that doesn’t need a post.  See you there!
