As I mentioned the other day, we’re pretending that it’s almost fall! Today’s high was 97… Really makes you want to break out the sweaters! Gresham is especially ready to get on with fall because his birthday is in fall (October), so we decided to go ahead and decorate pumpkins.

Daddy found these perfect little pie pumpkins at the grocery store, so we made them into… ninjas! (What else?)

Ninja Pumpkins

For our young painters, we decided to use tape to cover the ninja mask part.

We used acrylic paint. When we peeled off the tape, the edges were a little wonky, so Daddy did some touch up with a flat brush. For older kids, it would probably be easier to just draw the mask part with a pencil and paint on the lines.

Then the boys drew on their ninja eyes with a sharpie marker. The paint does scratch off, so if your pumpkins are going to be handled very much, it would be good to spray them with a coat of clear shellac. Ours are intended for decoration, but they’ve been loved and handled an awful lot already! 🙂

Aren’t they cute? They almost make it feel a little cooler outside…
