In June, we went in for our first OB visit, and saw a blank screen… (If you missed our miscarriage story, you can read it here.)

This past week, we were blessed to see a tiny beating heart!

New Life

This baby is just over a centimeter long, and yet I watched its tiny heart pumping. Amazing.

“For You formed my inward parts;

You wove me in my mother’s womb.

I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

Wonderful are Your works,

And my soul knows it very well.”

Psalm 139: 13-14

We are all very excited to watch our family expand from 4 to 5! Jonathan is going to be a GREAT big brother. He is currently super into babies – both real babies and dolls!

New Life

I might not be posting quite as often on here… we’ll see! This pregnancy has hit pretty hard with the worst morning sickness I’ve ever experienced. But, I still have four boys who need to be busy, so it’s not like life slows down much around here! I’ve been coping by having them do a little less official schoolwork and a little more reading. Now that the weather is finally cooling down, we can get outside more, which will really help. And I have an amazing husband who has been doing the grocery shopping, grading math lessons, and washing most of the dishes!

What’s your best morning sickness survival tip?

      Ha ha, yes!! I am not a big soda drinker, but my husband bought me these little cans of Ginger Ale, and they are perfect. Really helps when my mouth tastes "weird," which happens all the time!

    Congratulations!!! What wonderful news! Have you tried the anti-nausea wristbands? They work for me. I don't feel 100% with them, but they're better than nothing. Ginger candy is good to suck on too.

    Congratulations!!!! My last one I had horrible morning sickness as well. It was harder with my two older ones to take care of. I would do crock pot meals and then stick the crock pot in the laundry room so I wouldn't smell it cooking all day. Then when my husband got home, I would go back to my bedroom, close the door, and he would get the crock pot out of the laundry room to do dinner with the boys. :-)

      That crock pot idea is very smart!! When I was pregnant with my third, I remember plugging in my George Foreman grill on the back patio to cook out there so that the smell would not be in the house. Smells are the worst!

    Congratulations!! How exciting for your family! :) Nausea is so hard though, especially when you have other little ones to look after. I second the idea about the sea-bands. They don't take it all away, but they did help take the edge off of the nausea for me at least.

    And no worries about fewer blog posts...you're working on something much more important! Plus I just found your super awesome blog a few months ago, so I have plenty of catching up to do. ;)

    I had hyperemesis with my most recent pregnancy (#3) and it was horrible to try and get through with 2 little ones who still needed mommy to be involved in their adventures. Seabands were a must for me. They don't work for everyone, but at $8 a set they are worth a try if they help. Also, if you don't mind the aroma of Vicks vapor rub, I smeared it along my upper chest when the smell of food was bothering me and it overwhelms everything enough that I could get through making a meal, even if I couldn't eat it. Frigidly cold ice water was also the only liquid I could keep down, but anything warmer was asking for trouble. Congrats and GOOD LUCK!!!

    Wow
    Congratulations Sarah & all
    You are sooo blessed
    As a woman who has stuggled to get pregnant I am learning to rejoice with those who are immensely blessed with many children.
    Ill keep you on my prayers.
    Ginger and the wristbands worked for my 2 pregnancies.
    Please pray for my family to expand if it is Gods will. My heart yearns for more but I don't know if that is selfishness or God tell me to be patient but I need some clarity and peace if we aren't meant to have more.
    Thanks and best of luck. What's your due date?

    I had nausea for most of my pregnancy with my only child. I highly recommend water with lemon in it when you're not in the mood for ginger ale. It usually helped get me through, something about the sourness of the lemon and its a clean taste. God bless you and keep you healthy!

    I was always a bit nauseous for all 9 months. Chewing peppermint gum saved me. Any mint will do if it is going to work for you. Congratulations. What a blessing you are carrying!

    Congratulations! For morning sickness, I had luck with candied ginger (not actual candy, more like dried fruit) and also oyster crackers. The crackers helped with keeping something small in my stomach -- the nausea seemed worse if I was running on empty. Blessings!

    I had a terrible time with 'morning's sickness (all dad through almost the whole pregnancy). I had to get nausea medication and take a lot of tums. But the thing that helped me the most was eating just a little bit at a time several times a day
    If I ate too much at once I would immediately get sick. Smells were the worst.

    I am a big fan of your blog as a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom with three boys. My sister-in-law has four boys and we often make references to your posts with each other. You are an immense encouragement! Blessings to you during this pregnancy!
