We had some leftover supplies after making our gold playdough, so we decided to attempt some gold slime. It’s shiny, sparkly, and super stretchy!
The boys like to stretch it out in thin sheets.
Or hold it up and let is ooze.
To make your own gold slime, you will need:

- Liquid starch
- Clear school glue
- Gold mica powder
- Extra fine gold glitter
- Something disposable to mix it in (plastic cup, bowl)
- Something to stir with (craft stick, plastic spoon)
Step 1: Measure out 1/4 cup of liquid starch and pour it into your cup or bowl. Add a small scoop of gold mica powder and some glitter and stir well.
I didn’t measure the mica powder, but this was how much I used:
It hard to keep the glitter mixed in because it floats to the top, but just do your best. You will still end up with plenty in the slime.
Step 2: Add 1/4 cup clear glue and stir well. The mixture will become lumpy very quickly. Stir as well as you can, and then squish and mix with your hands. Take the slime out of your bowl and dry off the excess liquid with paper towels. There will be some liquid left over in the bowl. Be careful because the slime will stick to the paper towels once it gets fairly dry.
Keep squishing the slime and dabbing off excess moisture as needed. If it seems stringy and messy, that’s okay – keep squishing! We usually have to wash and dry our hands when our slime is close to being dry because gooey hands can keep the mess going. Once the slime is “finished,” it will make hands slightly damp but should not make much of a mess.
The gold slime was perfect for creating a gold serpent for the Lego Ninjago characters to battle!
