I love advent. I love celebrating the birth of our Savior with my children. I love the opportunity to contemplate God in the flesh – that He would take the form of a bondservant and be found in appearance as a man, humbling Himself to the point of death – even death on a cross! The sights, sounds, and smells of this season all announce that the time is here! The time to remember the Messiah is here!
Here are some of our favorite Christ-centered Christmas songs that we want to share with you. These songs will help your family to focus on the reason we celebrate Christmas. If you are doing an Advent Tree, the music will tie in well with that.
You should be able to find these songs on Spotify or Amazon Music.
An Advent Playlist
Come Now Our King – Chris August
How Many Kings – Downhere
Keith and Kristyn Getty’s album Joy: An Irish Christmas is one of the best. These two songs are my favorites.
- Jesus, Joy of the Highest Heaven
- Joy Has Dawned
Come Adore the Humble King – Matt Boswell, Matt Papa
See Amid the Winter Snow – Fernando Ortega. This is a modern take on an old carol with wonderful lyrics.
Born to Die – Bebo Norman
Christmas Angels – Michael W. Smith
Sing Noel, Sing Hallelujah – Michael W. Smith
Here with Us – Joy Williams
Welcome to Our World – Chris Rice
He Will Reign Forevermore – Chris Tomlin (Matt Maher also has a fun version of this song!)
For traditional Christmas carols, we love the album The Majesty and Glory of Christmas.
