How to build LEGO® Dogs!

This week, I had fun building LEGO® dogs. Yes, it was me. Gresham did build the puppies to go with them, but I was mostly the builder on this project! (I find that LEGO®’s are strangely relaxing…)

These dogs are not any particular breed, mainly because brown and tan are probably our most limited colors. I had set out to build a dalmatian when I made the white one, but it’s obviously not anywhere close to a dalmatian!

You can find building instructions below, but first here are a few different views of the dogs.

Maybe the brown dog is a hound, and the white dog is a Westie?

UPDATE: I have added another post with two more dogs to build – a dachshund and a mastiff!

How to build the brown dog:

Step 1: Start with a flat 2 x 4 brick.

Step 2: Add two flat bricks that look like this. The two studs in the front hang over with no brick underneath.

Step 3: Add another 2 x 4 flat brick and a 2 x 1 flat brick.

Step 4: Add the same bricks as step 3. Another 2 x 4 flat brick and a 2 x 1 flat brick.

Step 5: The eyes came from the LEGO Classic small box. (affiliate link) These eyes have been so useful for building our LEGO dinosaurs and spring animals.

Step 6: Attach two 2 x 4 bricks to the back of the head. The flat brick under the eyes will overhang, allowing you to attach these two bricks.

Step 7: Add a 1 x 4 brick.

Step 8: For the sides of the head, I used a sloped brick (2 studs long) and a 1 x 3 flat brick on each side. I made mine different colors, but it doesn’t matter what color you use!

Step 9: Build up the top of the head.

Step 10:

Step 11: Add two white one stud round bricks for teeth. Then add more flat bricks on the bottom of the head to form the jaw. Add ears as shown.

Step 12: This is what the head looks like from the bottom.

Step 13: Build the body.

These are the bricks that I used for feet. Unfortunately, I could only find three matching feet, so the dog has one funny looking foot.

I gave him a jointed tail.

How to Build the White Dog

Step 1: The one-stud white pieces are just sitting next to the 2 x 4 flat brick.

Lego Dogs Step 2: Add two 2 x 3 flat bricks and slanted bricks if you have them.

Lego Dogs

Step 3: Build up the back of the head and add eyes.

Here is what the back of the head looks like.

The body is pretty simple!

These are the worst set of directions I have ever read in my life. You need less pictures and more words because this is impossible to do by pictures alone and without knowing what pieces you will need before hand.

That is pretty rude Mia, I am happy the author shared it at all, as should you! She tells you what to use, I don't understand the problem!

Re: brown dog-Super cute but it seems instructions are only given for the head. "Step 13: Build the body" then..."finished puppy". Any chance of a little more than that? Pieces used, missing steps or even a picture from the back or bottom? Thanks!
