These cute little LEGO® turkeys are perfect for decorating the table this Thanksgiving! I’ve included instructions for building them. This is a great project for builders of all ages.

This project was originally posted in November 2016, but we’ve just updated it in November 2021 with a second turkey! I can’t decide which one I like better. My 12 year old son designed the new turkey, and it’s so cute!

LEGO Turkey Version #1:

To build a LEGO® turkey, gather the bricks shown below.

Attach two 1 x 2 brown hinge plates with two fingers to two 1 x 2 black hinge plates with one finger.  The black plates will be the turkey’s feet.

Add a 2 x 2 brick, a 1 x 2 plate (flat), and a 2 x 2 inverted slope.

Fold the hinge plates so that they sit at a 90 degree angle.  Add a 1 x 2 brown plate with one stud on top, two eyes, and the beak.  Add a 1 x 2 slope under the beak.

Add a 2 x 2 plate, and then put on the two round corner plates.

Add the last brown 1 x 2 plate under the round plates and then add the 2 x 2 brown round plate and the 2 x 2 plate.

Turn the turkey around and add 1 x 2 plates in various colors for tail feathers.

Then make more turkeys!  Aren’t they cute?  The boys wanted to set them up with mini figures as hunters, but I said no!

LEGO Turkey Version #2:

Start with a 4 x 4 brown plate. Attach three 2 x 2 brown inverted slopes to the bottom of the plate as shown.

Turn the plate over and add a 2 x 4 brown brick and a 1 x 4 brown brick. Then find the pieces shown.

Attach a 1 x 4 brown plate to the front of the body. Then add a 1 x 2 – 2 x 2 yellow bracket and a 1 x 4 brown double curved slope.

Build the tail feathers. This is how we built ours, but you can modify the design however you want.

Attach the tail feathers to the body. Add a 2 x 2 brown slope right in front of the tail.

Then grab the bricks shown for building the turkey’s head.

Attach two 1 x 1 bricks with a stud on the side (headlight type) to the studs on the side of a 1 x 2 brown brick with two studs on opposite sides.

Then attach a 1 x 1 red brick, a 1 x 1 red slope (30 degree) and a 1 x 1 brown slope (30 degree) to the studs on the other side of the brown brick.

Attach a 1 x 2 brown plate with one stud on top (jumper plate) to hold the beak.

Then attach the head to the bracket on the front of the body. Build the legs/feet. We used a 1 x 1 yellow round brick and a 2 x 2 yellow corner plate for each one.

Your turkey is complete!

Build some pumpkins to go with your turkeys. Owen helped me create these.

This is cute enough to decorate with!  Maybe a fun centerpiece idea?  Or put this on the fireplace mantle? Have a great Thanksgiving!

This is a great Thanksgiving activity for the little ones, plus LEGO should really make this available as a kit. Include a few pumpkins and a turkey.
