Plant flowers over and over again! This simple sensory bin has been a HUGE hit!  We have gotten way more mileage out of this tub than I ever thought we would.  We’ve even had it out twice when friends came over.  Yes, it’s a little bit of work to clean up the beans at the end of play time, but it has been worth the hours of entertainment!

For this sensory bin, I used:

  • Plastic under-the-bed box
  • Pinto beans – you can find these at a great price at Dollar Tree
  • Silk flowers – also from Dollar Tree
  • Little tin pails – from the Target dollar spot
  • Kids’ garden tools – also from the Target dollar spot

Janie and Jonathan have loved scooping the beans and filling up the little pails.  The dollar store flowers are quite hideous (LOL), but the price was right and Janie thinks they are beautiful!  There were about 5 flowers on each stem, and I cut them apart to separate them and make them a better height for the pots.

Sometimes Janie puts all the same color flowers together, and other times she just makes pretty arrangements.

Our PVC sand and water table is needing a leg glued back together, but usually that is our go-to spot for sensory play. Be sure to check it out – it’s so much easier for kids to use and seems to keep the mess under control.

Have fun playing with flowers!
