This week is Grow Week at Frugal Fun for Boys! We are spending the week learning about plants, gardening, and how God wants us to grow as Christians! If you missed our first day of activities, you can find it here.
Today we studied Colossians 2:6-7.
Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.
Plants cannot live and grow without being rooted in the soil, and we cannot live and grow without being rooted in Christ!
Today, Aidan planted two herbs (basil and oregano) and two types of flowers (daisies and marigolds) in 4″ pots. They will make a great table centerpiece while they sprout! We are planning an outdoor garden (which we really need to be planting, like, right now). Hopefully, we will have time to get started on that this weekend. We may move the flowers and herbs to the outdoor garden, or we may re-pot them when they get bigger and keep growing them inside… this is new to us, so we’ll see what works!
Aidan and Gresham made spring tree pictures right before lunch. Gresham colored a trunk with colored pencils and then painted on watercolor green leaves. It turned out really cute, but I didn’t get a picture of his! Aidan made his so detailed that we decided not to add the painted leaves – he stuck to colored pencil instead.
We got From Seed to Pumpkin at the library, and this is a great book for kids age 3-6 to learn about the process of growing a pumpkin from planting the seeds in the spring to harvest in the fall.
What kinds of spring activities are you doing at your house?
