Make a simple winter touch and feel book that toddlers and preschoolers will love!

Make a Winter Touch and Feel Book

I had planned for this book to be something that Jonathan and I made together during our school day, but he had no interest at all!  So I just had fun creating it myself.  However, he and Janie have both been enjoying reading it!

This book is so simple to put together using materials from around the house.  Here’s what I used:

  • Heavyweight construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Markers
  • Felt
  • Fleece
  • Pom pom balls – 1 for the hat
  • 1 plastic page protector
  • Fake snow
  • Glue

Hat – this page is a simple felt hat with a pom pom ball.  I used hot glue as white school glue (Elmer’s) wasn’t holding it on very well.

Snowball – For this page, I used fake snow and Elmer’s glue.

Ice/Frozen Pond – It’s hard to see, but the ice on the pond is a piece that I cut from a plastic page protector.  I used hot glue to glue it on.

Snowman – For the snowman, I used felt and hot glue, pipe cleaner arms and nose, and button eyes.

Mitten – The mitten was cut from a piece of fleece, with felt trim.

Then I stapled it together with a simple snowflake cover!

Janie is pretty adorable “reading” the book to herself.  She and Jonathan both spend a lot of time looking at books every day. I’m glad they have at least one quiet hobby!

I love this and plan on doing it with my little ones soon. To make it interesting I am making personal kits for the four of them to make it more personal for them.

This touch and feel book is amazing ! great for exploring the senses. Older children can do this as well by having them dictate what they want to say. Some could even write their own story.
Thanks for sharing your creativity !
