Here’s a different spin on a Rainbow Loom project – an action figure that flies off your finger!
These superhero flingers are a lot of fun. They work like a slingshot – pull it back and let it go! And since they’re made out of rubber bands, nothing gets broken, which is always a plus. 🙂
Owen (5) and Jonathan (almost 3) love shooting these. It was difficult for Jonathan at first, but he was determined to figure it out.
These flingers might make a good gift for an older kid to make for a younger one!
Aidan came up with this design for building an action figure with a cape. He was inspired by a baseball player tutorial that used this same technique to put a bill on a hat.
The hands are c-clipped together. He also made the arms longer than a regular action figure to give them additional stretch.
The design above is Superman. He has also made this Batman style figure. The video shows how to make a superhero with colors the opposite of Superman – red body and blue cape.
Here’s how to make one:
Note: This is not a beginner project. To simplify, leave off the cape. If you have any questions, just ask and we will do our best to answer them!

Excellent job on the video! It took me 2 tries to get it *almost* right. My legs look like they are attached to the arms and the body is sort of dangling there. It still works though! I'll have to give it a 3rd try.

Where do I find the pegboard and rubber bands. My grandsons, age 8 and 12 came in last night with their mom. They will be here a week and a half. I'm looking for things they will like to do and keep them busy and I found your website on my iphone, and today looked it up online. Do I have to order these from you? Because there probably isn't time right now. I love the superhero flingers, but also the sandbox idea is awesome. I know the eight year old loves digging in sand so the mini "sandbox" idea is pretty great. What kind of toys does your son like to play with in the sand box? Thanks,
Granmam Renee

Glad he loved it! Sorry your hook broke! We have broken both of our Rainbow Loom hooks and had to switch to crochet hooks. They are metal and hold up better.
