Here’s an adorable winter craft to make with kids!  Use wooden eggs from the craft store to make some friendly little penguins.

The materials for this craft are simple. I would recommend this for kids of any age, but kids ages 8+ will be able to make the penguins almost totally on their own.

What cute little penguins! Fun project to go with an arctic animal unit.  Or just make them on a snow day.

Ready to make some?  Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 2.5 inch wooden eggs – we found ours at Hobby Lobby in the wood crafts aisle
  • Black and orange felt
  • Googly eyes
  • Black and white acrylic paint
  • Hot glue
  • Scissors

Start by drawing the outline of the penguin’s face with a pencil.

Then paint the face/belly white and the rest of the penguin black.

While the paint dries, cut out the wings, beaks, and feet. (I forgot to get the feet in the photo – sorry!)

Then, simply glue on the eyes, beaks, wings, and feet!  We used hot glue, but Tacky Glue would work also, especially if you want the kids to do this part themselves.

Have fun crafting!
