Here’s a fun game that the whole family will enjoy – Avengers themed tic tac toe!

DIY Avengers Tic Tac Toe

This game was so simple to put together, and almost any age can play!

To make one, you will need:

  • A slice of wood – we bought ours at Hobby Lobby. $6.99 I think? Good coupon item.
  • Wood discs – 1″ diameter. They were $1.50 for 12 at Hobby Lobby.
  • Mod Podge
  • Black acrylic paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Pencil and ruler – for drawing lines on the game board
  • Avengers symbols – print them online

We decided to make Iron Man, Captain America, and the Hulk. I googled “printable Iron Man,” etc. and found images to print. I didn’t link to any of them, because it’s always a challenge to know if someone *should* be posting an image on the internet. They all seemed to be legit sites, but still… I’ll let you find your own! Then I reduced them on our all-in-one printer/copier until they were the right size for the discs. I may or may not have wasted quite a bit of paper in the process… Well, it’s not really wasted because the boys will draw on any scrap they find!

Then I colored the images and cut them out. (The coloring was a little too tiny for the boys, but it was okay because I like to color.)

I coated the discs with a thin layer of Mod Podge, put on the paper circles, and added another coat of Mod Podge over that. They dried quickly.

While the playing pieces were drying, I painted lines on the game board with black acrylic paint.

Then it was time to play! The first game was between Owen (age 6) and Jonathan (age 3) and it was a HOOT! The two of them had no defensive skills. They both just lined their pieces up on the board and the one who started first won. SO FUNNY. They are both quite a bit better now with a little practice…

Now we just need some kind of carry bag. If I had a sewing machine, I’d make a quick drawstring bag to store this game. Great gift idea!

Also, it would be really fun to make a Star Wars version. Storm Troopers vs. Jedi?

Where did you get the symbols. My daughter is making this and she can’t find the symbols. Is there a website? Any help will be appreciated.
