Looking for a fun fall craft idea? These fall leaf treat bags are adorable, and they’re perfect to use for gifts. Fill them with sugar cookies, homemade Chex mix, or your favorite fall treat.

The secret to these treat bags is colored cellophane. It’s easy to work with and such a fun crafting material.

Parents and kids can do this craft together, or teens and adults can make these on their own.

The reason for this is that you’ll need to use an X-Acto knife, which is definitely a teen/adult job!

If you have some really amazing scissors, you may be able to cut out the leaf shape. But really an X-Acto knife (or something similar) will make it SO much easier.

Supplies Needed for Fall Leaf Treat Bags:

Step 1: Trace your leaf cookie cutter onto the paper lunch bag.

Step 2: Slide a piece of cardboard into the bag so that you don’t cut through both layers of the bag with the X-Acto knife.

Step 3: Carefully cut out the leaf.

Step 4: Cut out a piece of cellophane large enough to cover the entire opening left by the leaf. Tape the cellophane to the INSIDE of the bag.

This is a little tricky but not terribly hard.

Step 5: Fold down the bag and punch two holes. Thread in some ribbon and tie a bow. So cute!!

Now make more bags! We thought it looked nice to use the same color ribbon on each bag, but different colors of cellophane.

Fill your bags with sugar cookies (they look especially good because they show the colored cellophane well), popcorn, snack mix, etc. Then give them to teachers, friends, or neighbors!
