LEGO Duplo Animals to Build

Love this post? Then pass it on!

Here are 8 LEGO® Duplo animals to build!

This week, we are participating in LEGO® Week with several other awesome bloggers.  I’ll be sharing fun LEGO® ideas on my Facebook page all week, so be sure to “like” us if you haven’t already!

First up… We have posted many LEGO® building projects, but we have never posted Duplo ideas.  I thought it would be fun to create some Duplo animals to share!  Most of our Duplo bricks are about 10 years old, so the eyes don’t look exactly the same now.  The eyes are available in the LEGO Duplo Creative Suitcase, or another way to get them is to order the LEGO Duplo Education set on Amazon.  Another option is to order from BrickLink.  Most of the bricks on BrickLink are used, but they have the eye bricks for as low as 2 cents each, plus shipping.

A note about Duplo…  We have found that LEGO® Duplo bricks come across as toddler toys, but kids may need to reach 3 years old or older to get the hang of building.  Our oldest son was 4 before he started getting into Duplos and coming up with his own creations.  Our third son started building quite a bit sooner, so there is definitely variation between kids.  I love having them around because they are safe for toddlers, but it is totally normal if your 2 or 3 year old to needs you to do a lot of the building!  Because we have had a baby in our house for so long, our Duplos have stayed out in the game room.  Our 6 and 8 year old’s end up playing with them, even though they also spend a lot of time building with regular Legos.

Feel free to print these pictures for use in your home or classroom.  It might be fun to make a building ideas notebook for kids!  However, do not distribute these photos or load them to your own website without permission.

Here are some of our favorite Duplo sets!

The Duplo My First Creative Box is a great way to get started.  This is a new set, so we don’t own this one.  But just looking at the contents, this set has a lot of great pieces.

LEGO DuploThe Duplo vehicles are very well made, and we love how the pieces can be mixed and matched.  This Duplo Schoolbus is currently on sale on Amazon for $13.99.

LEGO DuploWe gave Jonathan the LEGO Duplo Train for his 3rd birthday.  It’s expensive, but after reading reviews we decided to go for it.  Well, we have not been disappointed!  This is a fantastic train set.  The train is very sturdy and easy for little hands to operate.  The track is easy to build, and you can attach any of the track pieces to Duplo bricks so that you can add height to your train layout!

You can pretty much never have too many basic bricks – here’s another option for ordering Duplo Basic Bricks.
