A couple weeks ago, I found these cool wood shadow boxes at Hobby Lobby. Their wood items were on sale for 40% off, which they often are, so they were only $4.80 apiece.
We’ve been having so much fun building little shadow box scenes! There are so many possibilities with this. In fact, this LEGO building challenge would be really fun to do with a group or LEGO club because it would be fun to share ideas and see what everyone builds.
Supplies Needed:
- Wood shadow box – the one I used is 6″ x 6″ and 4″ deep. I can’t find this item on the Hobby Lobby website, but they have them in the store. Amazon also has several shadow box options, but I had trouble finding one with a 4″ depth.
- LEGO bricks and minifigures
And that’s it!
First, I built this little coastal town. I was going for the look of the colorful houses that line coastal towns around the world.
I chose to make all the scenes a single unit that can be slid in and out of the shadow box.
Here’s a close up view of the little sail boat.
My son Owen and I built this little bedroom scene together. It turned out so cute!
The room has bunk beds, a night stand, a desk, and a dresser.
Here’s a better view of the room.
Owen made this little dresser and it’s ADORABLE.
The bunk beds are a simple design.
Next, Owen built an outdoor scene with a fishing pier.
Little scenes like this are a great way to use the Series minifigures!
Finally, I built this Star Wars scene. What movie is it from? I don’t know. I just came up with something that looked like Star Wars, and my kids were actually impressed! Ha.
