Make beautiful pipe cleaner snowflakes!
This is a fun winter craft that works well for all ages.
Add beads to your snowflakes for a splash of color, or just use pipe cleaners. It’s up to you!
I love snowflake design crafts, and we have several on this website. At the bottom of the page, I’ll link to more snowflake crafts that you won’t want to miss.
Supplies Needed for Pipe Cleaner Snowflakes:
- White pipe cleaners
- Pony beads
- White pom pom balls
- Hot glue
- Scissors
It’s also fun to use silver pipe cleaners! I prefer all white, but silver does look pretty.
Real snowflakes are six-sided. To make a snowflake like that, cut pipe cleaners in half and start with three halves.
You’ll also need 6 one-inch segments.
Grab the three half pipe cleaners and twist them together in the middle. You’ll need to make 2-3 twists so that the pipe cleaners are secure.
Then twist one of the three inch segments around each arm of the snowflake.
Your snowflake will look beautiful just like this, or you can add beads!
We didn’t use any glue to secure the beads – just slid them on the pipe cleaners.
We thought that blue and purple beads looked the best with snowflakes, but kids can truly use any color or a combination of colors.
Here’s a fun variation! Start by twisting three pipe cleaners together just like we did above.
Then bend a “v” shape out of a 3 inch segment. Fold the ends to attach it to the snowflake as shown below.
For this snowflake, I decided to add white pom pom balls instead of beads. I love how it turned out!
Here are some photos of our finished snowflakes.
For this purple one, I added beads in the center before attaching the shorter pipe cleaner segments.
Need more snowflake crafts?
I have so many, and it’s hard to choose a favorite! Make snowflakes with LEGO bricks, paper, Perler beads, coffee filters, and even tortillas.
