Y’all. This is a sensory play activity that you’ve got to try! These play dough snakes are fabulous for developing fine motor skills, and they’ll keep kids happily busy for a long time.

We’ve done several variations of play dough snakes over the years, but I created this particular version for our preschool class at VBS this summer. It was a huge hit! We had an Amazon theme to our VBS this year, and this activity was a perfect fit.

Play Dough Snakes

Here’s what you need for this fun play dough snakes activity:

  • Play Dough – I usually prefer homemade, but used store bought this time. Green, yellow, and blue are great colors.
  • Googly eyes
  • Tongues – cut from red craft foam
  • Small buttons
  • Sequins
  • Anything else you have on hand for decorating the snakes!

Then all you gotta do is set out the supplies! We found that paper cupcake liners work really well to corral the materials.

The tongues just make the snakes look so cute. These were really easy to cut out of red craft foam.

The snakes below were from VBS. One little guy made these dad and baby snakes, and I thought they were SO cute!
