Pumpkin Patch Multiplication Activities
Grab some simple supplies and whip up these pumpkin patch math activities with almost no prep time! We love adding math activities that fit the season. It’s such a great way to make learning more fun.
These math activities are great for Halloween, but really you can use these pumpkin ideas through Thanksgiving too.
Supplies Needed:
- Paper
- Pumpkin stickers – I used this pack of pumpkin stickers from Amazon
- Markers
- Dice
If you don’t want to order the pumpkin stickers, you can easily skip them and have kids draw the pumpkins with markers.
Pumpkin Patch Multiplication:
Grab some paper, dice, green markers, and pumpkin stickers.
First, roll two dice. The first number will tell you how many pumpkin vines to draw.
Then the second number tells you how many pumpkins are growing on each vine.
So in the example below, 4 vines x 6 pumpkins on each vine = 24 total pumpkins.
Super fun!
This would be fun to do with a class! You can have each student present their multiplication sentence to the class.
Here’s another example. If you roll 3 and 4, you’ll end up with a pumpkin patch like this:
Pumpkin Farm Orders:
Here’s another way to do multiplication with pumpkins! Grab some paper and make a price list for a pumpkin farm.
Then make some order forms. I used index cards, but you can use paper or whatever you have handy.
Since the price list has a price for each size or type of pumpkin, it’s easy to create multiplication problems!
How much would it cost for 5 large pumpkins? Multiplication is the best way to find out! Large pumpkins are $5.00 each, so 5 x $5 = $25.
You can make a few order forms to get kids started, and then they will enjoy creating orders themselves too.
Here’s how we filled out the order forms:
If you want kids to write out the multiplication sentences, it would be easy to add that!
