We made this fun “ball catcher” out of an empty plastic milk jug today. This is a simple idea – just cut the bottom off a milk jug! I can’t remember where I found this idea, but I first used it with some kids that I babysat during college… circa 1998. It was a success then, so we decided to try it today.

We used a lightweight plastic ball to play with in the house, since it was 104 degrees today!!! My middle son (almost 4) LOVED this game and spent 30 minutes playing it until we were ready to stop. He had this goofy grin on his face the whole time. I don’t know if it was the fun of trying to catch the ball in the jug, or just being able to play ball in the house, or what!

Catching a beanbag would also work well for indoor play. We’ll definitely do this with two ball catchers and tennis balls outside when it cools down!
