We got this recipe for homemade silly putty from Kids Activities Blog. What a great idea! This stuff is stretchy, squishy fun that leaves no residue behind.
Here’s how to make it:
Dissolve 1/2 teaspoon borax in 1/4 cup warm water.
Mix together:
borax/water mixture
1/4 cup cornstarch
2-3 oz. school glue (We had a 4 0z. bottle with about half left, and we dumped it all in)
Food coloring
At first, it’s a gooey mess, but keep working, and it will form a putty consistency. We forgot to add the food coloring, so ours is just white.
We made tracks with construction vehicles and footprints with plastic animals. Then Aidan made a snowman with toothpick arms. This stuff also bounces!
To save your goop, dip it in water and then place it in an airtight container.

We have tons of fun with it! Thanks for linking to us!
