The day before Aidan’s surgery was really wild. Or I should say, the boys were really wild! As much as I wanted to get a few more things done, I decided that the only way to reign in the wildness was with some activities to keep them occupied. When afternoon nap time was over, I was ready with this project:
I used masking tape to write the boys’ names on poster board.
Then, I gave them each their own set of watercolors, and had them go to work painting all over/around the letters. Neatness doesn’t matter with this project!
When the paint was dry, we simply removed the tape! (Aidan has no problem with self-confidence, as you can see!)
We had a little trouble with the tape ripping the poster board as it came off – I would definitely recommend the blue painters tape instead of the tan kind that we used. Aidan and I did this project when he was 2 or 3, and we used watercolor paper and blue tape, and it worked just fine.
Also, if your child has a long name, you might want to stick to individual letters or initials – check out this post at 4tunate! I thought it was great that they happened to do this project this week also!
