Today Jordan’s mom came over to spend some time with us and make some Christmas crafts. We had a great time! The first thing that we made was a craft idea that came from Jordan’s uncle – pipe cleaner snowflakes.
To make them, all you need is silver and white pipe cleaners. This is a great craft for a mixed group of ages because each child can make snowflakes however they like!
For the basic snowflake design, take three pipe cleaners and twist them together in the middle. (The younger ones needed help for this step.) Then, arrange the pipe cleaners so that they are evenly spaced. The snowflake below has shorter pieces added to each “arm.” Jordan’s mom made this one, and that was my favorite design.
Gresham made loops out of each of his pipe cleaners.
To make spiral designs on the snowflakes, we wrapped the ends of the pipe cleaners around a pencil.
Aidan explored twisting the two colors together. He made a star out of pipe cleaners that is now on the top of our Christmas tree.
What a great collection – they are all so fun to look at!
