Aidan has been pestering me diligently asking me how to make a ninja mask. Today he had the idea to cut the bill off a baseball hat and then add some felt with tape or glue. That sounded like kind of a disaster, so I broke down and googled “how to make a ninja mask.” Well, I was glad I did because we found this great idea on WikiHow for making a ninja mask out of a t-shirt! And there’s no cutting or sewing required!

Aidan wanted to be Kai from Lego Ninjago, so he put on a red t-shirt so that he would have a whole ninja outfit. He is also wearing some leather cord that he tied together to make an “X” shape to hold his ninja sword on his back.

For the mask part, you need a t-shirt turned inside out. If it’s a plain t-shirt, it doesn’t need to be inside out – we were just hiding the design.

Put the t-shirt over your face as shown with the tag by your chin.

Tie the sleeves together behind your head. Aidan loved that even the back of the mask looks authentic!

To finish the mask, pull the collar of the shirt down and up to cover the face. Fold the edges of the collar under.

Aidan tucked the bottom of the t-shirt into the shirt that he was wearing. It did look better than way.

All we need now is some red pants and Aidan can dress up like a ninja this year for Halloween! This will be a CHEAP costume!

Of course, all of the boys had to be ninjas. Owen had a great time practicing his moves. (We have obviously never done any martial arts of any kind. 🙂 )

You just saved this mama's sanity for the remainder of October. Both my boys want ninja masks and I have had no idea how I was going to go about that. Tried this on myself and it looks AWESOME. :)

You've saved me from two disappointed kids as we had a ninjago party to go to with no costumes and no time! They were the stars of the party after I used your method to make two convincing ninjas!
