There are so many fun magnetic games to play with a cookie sheet!
I picked up a basic one at Target one day, and it really came in handy on our recent road trip. These activities are great for traveling, but I will be using them for Jonathan and Janie to keep them busy during homeschooling as well.
I had plenty of Minions stickers left from our Minions Memory Game, so I stuck them to index cards, cut them out, and glued magnets on the back to make this Minions play scene. I also added a construction paper ocean, beach, and tree. I ran all of the pieces through my laminator to make them more durable.
NOTE: Don’t use self-adhesive magnets if you laminate your pieces! They’ll peel right back off. I ended up re-doing ours with non-sticky magnets and hot glue. I was afraid that the hot glue wouldn’t stick well either, but it’s quite secure. I did use a high temp gun for this one – maybe the hot glue melted the laminated surface a little? Anyway, be sure to supervise young kids to make sure that they can’t get the magnets off and put them in their mouths.
I also made a some magnets with Cars stickers and construction paper roads.
Perfect for imaginative play!
Another thought I had while packing for our trip was to bring along a gallon zip lock bag with some of our Magna Tiles. It ended up being a life saver! Jonathan enjoyed them, and so did Janie (15 months). In fact, the Magna Tiles on the cookie sheet was the only thing that kept Janie happy for many miles on the road. She’s not a big car seat fan… she’d rather be busy, busy, busy!
What is your favorite travel game for kids?
