Here’s a sweet manger craft that preschoolers will love!

We missed church this morning due to extreme cold weather (well, extreme for Texas – it was 15 degrees!).  Neither of our cars would start because of the cold, so we were stuck at home!  It ended up being a great time to read the Christmas story with the youngest two kids and then we made this manger craft, which Janie especially loved.

I used a file folder to make the manger part.  The shape you need is shown below.  Once you have one done, you can trace it and quickly make more.

The triangle tabs are for glue.  Fold on all the pencil lines.

We used wooden peg dolls for baby Jesus.  I cut a square of felt and hot glued it down as his blanket (or swaddling clothes if you want to call it that).

Janie was pointing and saying “Is this one mine?”

I used a thin sharpie to draw the face and hair.

Janie and Jonathan enjoyed cutting raffia (from the craft store) into small pieces for the hay in the manger.

The finished manger craft turned out so sweet!

Love it! I make swaddled baby boy peg dolls in a little brown food boat for my daughter's sea themed baby shower using that same swaddling method tacking with hot glue at the back and adding a little tag with a waist tied ribbon around the swaddled body. Thank you for sharing your craft ideas.
