Super Fun Back-to-School Bedazzling Projects

Are your kids into the bedazzling trend? School supplies are WAY more fun when you get to add your own flare.

Decorate pencil boxes, sharpeners, pens, and more!

My daughter was introduced to bedazzling by some friends at summer camp. She is not a super crafty person, but she enjoys bedazzling because you don’t have to be super creative or artsy to make it look good.

Also, this post is kind of making me chuckle, because if you’ve followed me for very long you know that my daughter is my youngest and that she has four older brothers. It’s kind of shocking to have this much sparkle in our house haha!

So let’s get started decorating school supplies! First, you’re going to need a bedazzling kit. We ordered this 40 color bedazzling kit from Amazon, and it’s perfect. It comes with the glue and the wax pencil that you’ll need for placing the beads.

How to Do Bedazzling:

The process of bedazzling is super simple!

Apply a line of glue where you want to add your gems.
Use the wax pencil to pick up a gem.
Apply it to the glue!

The pencil picks up the gems, but lets them go easily once they touch the glue.

We had a little trouble getting our wax pencil to stick to the gems. If you dip the end of the pencil in a tiny bit of glue, that seems to do the trick.

Now you just need some school supplies to bedazzle!

Janie started by decorating her pencil sharpener. We LOVE these Mr. Pen Pencil Sharpeners, and they come with a built-in eraser! So useful. And now, it’s also beautiful.

Next up was pencil boxes. We ordered these Amazon basics pencil boxes, and then I also bought a different style at Walmart, just for fun.

Then this pencil box from Walmart was fun because it had a pattern that we could work from. There are lots of options that you can do with this! You can fill in entire squares or whatever you want to do.

I found this fun crayon case at Walmart also, and Janie decorated it with flowers. Super cute!

Then we did some pens! We found these felt tip pens at Walmart on a great sale price.

Here’s how we decorated them! I thought we should cover the whole blue cap, but Janie thought it would be hard to take the cap off and didn’t agree. I still may go back and fill it in because I think it would look better…
