Here are some fun LEGO military vehicles to build! Create your own Hummer, jeep, and fighter plane.
My boys enjoy designing little military vehicles that are smaller than minifigure scale. They’re fun to build and are perfect to display!
These vehicles won’t hold a passenger, but kids also modify the designs if they want to make a larger vehicle that can hold a minifigure or two.
Build a LEGO Hummer
Jonathan used tan bricks for this Hummer, but you can build it in green, gray, or any color you want!
The windows are 1 x 2 translucent bricks. Each one has a 1 x 2 translucent plate on top.
To make the front grill, use a 1 x 4 brick with 4 studs on the side. Then attach two 1 x 2 grills. Jonathan used a 1 x 2 light gray plate with two clips to hold the bumper. Here’s a link to the bumper on BrickLink: Grille Guard/Push Bumper
Here’s a side view that shows the construction of the Hummer.
Jonathan built the slanted back by attaching a 4 x 6 plate to a 1 x 2 hinge brick with a 2 x 2 plate.
Despite our ENORMOUS LEGO collection, we could not find a second 1 x 3 slope brick in tan! So the Hummer has this weird pink color on one side. Not ideal haha!
Build a LEGO Military Jeep
This classic looking Jeep is so much fun! Owen built this one, and I love how it turned out. It reminded us of the green army Jeep in the original Toy Story movie. (There was Toy Story Army Guy LEGO set at one point! We owned two of them, but the pieces are all lost now… sad…)
Here’s how Owen built the spaces for the wheels. Instead of using a vehicle mudguard, Owen used 1 x 1 headlight bricks and 1 x 1 slopes.
The spare tire on the back of the Jeep is attached to a 1 x 2 plate with a wheel holder.
Then the taillights are actually attached to the back side of the 1 x 1 headlight bricks.
Then that whole section attaches to the body of the Jeep.
Here’s a view of the underside of the vehicle.
Now it’s time to set up a scene with your vehicles!
We also have full step-by-step instructions for building a World War II era plane.
That post also has photos of a tank and a Jeep that hold minifigures.
