Here’s a superhero craft that uses simple materials, and it’s SO fun to make! These craft stick superheroes are guaranteed to be a hit.

Craft sticks are one of our favorite crafting materials. It’s amazing how many different things you can make with them! After we made our craft stick ballerinas, we had to do something a little more boy-ly, haha.

Supplies Needed:

  • Craft sticks – one per superhero
  • Popsicle sticks – one per superhero
  • Felt
  • Paint – we used acrylic
  • Googly eyes
  • Hot glue
  • Scissors

If you don’t have felt, craft foam or construction paper would be other options for the capes. Craft foam or felt would be more durable than paper if the kids plan to play with them.

Start by painting your craft stick. Paint on a helmet or mask and then a superhero suit and boots. (The boots are the gray part on the bottom.)

Cut a popsicle stick in half to make the arms. Paint sleeves on the arms. Paint on a belt, laces on the boots, and a symbol on the chest. Add any other details you want!

Note: After I finished the superhero, I decided to go back and paint a line to make the legs. You’ll see what I mean below!

Then glue on the googly eyes.

Assemble the superhero. Glue the arms to the back of the craft stick, and then glue on the cape.

Then make more superheroes in other colors! You can also paint them to look like your favorite Marvel or DC characters.

Print these Superhero Writing Worksheets for first and second grade. Each one has a story starter, and then lines for kids to write.

Make some Pipe Cleaner Superheroes – this craft is a little more involved than the craft stick version, but they are SO cute and posable.
