Have you noticed that wood bead ornaments have been all the rage lately? And also wood bead garland, but we’re making ornaments today! These adorable wood bead wreath ornaments are so easy to make, and they come out looking fabulous.

I’ve seen so many wood bead ornaments with completely unfinished beads, but I really like the contrast you get by painting some of the beads.

This is the perfect craft for teens, and younger kids will enjoy making these with help.

I also think these wood bead ornaments would be perfect to give as gifts or sell at a craft fair!

Wood Bead Christmas Ornaments

A side benefit of this project is that my kids love jingle bells, but we don’t always know what to do with them. This craft was the perfect thing. The wreaths have a nice jingle to them!

Supplies Needed:

  • Wood beads – we used 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch
  • Craft wire – we found ours in the jewelry aisle
  • Ribbon
  • Green felt
  • Small jingle bells
  • Glue – hot glue or Tacky Glue
  • Red acrylic paint
  • Wire cutters

Step 1: Paint the smaller beads red. I know that the beads appear to be more than 1/4″ different in size, but I measured them twice! They truly are 1/2″ and 3/4″ beads.

Step 2: Thread the beads onto some craft wire.

Step 3: Twist the wire to close the circle. Trim off the excess wire with wire cutters.

Step 4: Cut out holly leaves from green felt. The felt we used is the stiff kind, and it looks really good! But any felt will work. Cut one piece of ribbon for hanging the ornament, and a second piece for making a bow.

Step 5: Tie a loop of ribbon and position it so that covers up the ends of the wire.

Step 6: Glue the holly leaves to the ornament with either hot glue or a craft glue such as Tacky Glue.

Step 7: Tie a bow with ribbon. Thread the jingle bells onto the ribbon before tying the bow so that the jingle bells are secure. Then glue the bow with the bells onto the ornament.

And that’s all there is to it! You’ll want to get plenty of beads and have ornaments to give away to friends and family.
