How to Build LEGO Horses

A couple weeks ago we shared building instructions for LEGO chickens, and now we’re back with some adorable LEGO horses to build!

These little horses are so much fun, and they don’t require a lot of bricks. Kids can build their LEGO horses in whatever colors they choose.

We also have a LEGO Unicorn project if you prefer that. 🙂

We built a bay (the dark brown horse), a buckskin, and a paint. The paint horse was a little tricky since it’s hard to make the spots, but I still think it’s cute!

Use tan bricks for the horse and then white or yellow for the mane and tail to make a palomino.

LEGO Horse Building Instructions:

Step 1: Gather the bricks shown for building the horse’s head.

Step 2: Grab a 2 x 4 plate in the color of your choice. Add two 1 x 1 bricks with a stud on the side, a 1 x 2 brick, and a 2 x 2 plate.

Step 3: Add two more 1 x 1 bricks with a stud on the side. These will hold the eyes. In order to make the ears the right height, add a 1 x 2 plate and then put two more 1 x 1 bricks with a stud on the side on top of that.

Step 4: Add the eyes and a 1 x 2 black plate for the nose.

Step 5: Place a 1 x 2 plate on top of the eyes. Then add a 1 x 2 black plate on top of that. Add a 1 x 2 slope (30 degree).

Step 6: Add a 1 x 2 – 2 x 2 bracket for the mane. Build the rest of the mane with a 2 x 4 plate and some 30 degree slopes. You’ll need five 1 x 2 slopes, or a combination of 1 x 1 slopes and 1 x 2 slopes. Just use what you have!

Step 7: Attach the 2 x 4 plate to the head. Then add one 1 x 2 slope on top of the head.

Step 8: Gather the bricks shown for building the horse’s body.

Step 9: Make the neck by placing a 2 x 2 brick and a 2 x 2 plate on top of a 2 x 6 brick.

Step 10: Attach a 2 x 6 plate and a 2 x 4 plate under the 2 x 6 brick.

Step 12: Attach the head to the neck. Then add a 1 x 2 plate and a 1 x 2 jumper plate (with one stud on top). Find a 1 x 1 plate with a clip and a 1 x 2 plate with a handle for building the tail.

Step 13: Add the horse’s tail to the body. Then build legs. Each leg consists of two 1 x 1 round bricks and a black 1 x 1 round plate for the hoof.

Your horse is complete!
