Penguin Can Treat Holder

Here’s a homemade Christmas gift that friends and family are sure to love! Turn a tin can into an adorable penguin that holds candy, treats, or other small gifts.

Penguin Treat Can Homemade Christmas Gift

My 14 year old designed this craft – the same son that also created these Among Us LEGO Projects. He’s been on a roll lately! I love this craft because the penguin is adorable and the supplies are so simple. You probably have everything on hand that you need to make this craft.

The only thing you may not have on hand is the orange craft foam… but you can grab that at Walmart or the craft store!

Supplies Needed:

Empty, clean tin can
Black and white construction paper
Orange craft foam
Large googly eyes
Scissors
Hot glue or another glue of your choice
Tape – we used mailing tape

Step 1: Cut a strip of black construction paper that fits your can with a couple inches of overlap.

Step 2: Cut out wings and a white belly from construction paper.

Step 3: Cut out a beak and two feet from orange craft foam. If you don’t have craft foam, you can substitute with orange construction paper. I do think that the craft foam feet are much more durable, however.

Step 4: Tape one end of the black construction paper to the can.

Step 5: Wrap the paper around the can and secure the other end with tape.

Step 6: Then glue on the eyes, belly, wings, beak, and feet with hot glue! I mean, you can also use another glue like Tacky Glue or possibly Elmer’s, but we pretty much use hot glue for everything – ha!

Then fill your penguin can with a fun treat! We did a combination of Hershey’s kisses and candy canes. You can also do peppermints, mini candy bars, Andes mints, etc. Maybe use a wider can and fill it with packets of hot chocolate. So many options!
