Some days, it’s hard to get excited about making kids do their math. Can you relate?

We have totally gotten in a rut here lately, so I decided we needed to spice things up a little. Here’s a fun printable math activity that kids will WANT to do! Practice addition and subtraction with this fun pumpkin patch game. Print the game board and then add some pumpkin candies and a dice – that’s it.

How to Play the Game

We used candy corn pumpkins for our markers. I found them at Hobby Lobby, but also saw them at our local grocery store. They are in bags labelled “autumn mix,” along with two types of candy corn.

If you want to use a non-food item for game markers, the Target dollar spot has some adorable jack o’lantern erasers right now. You get 60 for a dollar!

Game play is super simple. Roll the die, and move your pumpkin that number of spaces. Then, solve the addition problem on the space you landed on! First one to the end wins.

This printable file contains:

  • Two addition game boards in color
  • Two subtraction game boards in color
  • One addition game board in black and white
  • One subtraction game board in black and white

I laminated our game boards to make them more durable. I have the Scotch thermal laminator, and it is so worth it. I use it all the time!
