A couple weeks ago, we were stuck inside the house for 4 days during an ice storm. It was fun for the first 48 hours. After that, we were in desperate need of things to do! I pulled out our craft box and found a ton of popsicle sticks that we bought for something and never used, so I showed Aidan how to make stars out of popsicle sticks and hot glue. He thought it was really fun and made several stars. Then, he wrapped them with yellow crocheting yarn. They made fantastic ornaments!
If you have a low temp glue gun, kids can easily make these themselves. Aidan is 10, but I think that most kids ages 7+ could handle this.
We used some really thin crocheting yarn, but any yarn would work. Tie the strand around one popsicle stick, and then start wrapping! I tied off the ends, but Aidan did the rest.
We added a loop of green yarn for hanging – just thread it though one of the spaces in the yarn.
