Here’s a super simple idea for a preschool alphabet game!  I cut out several construction paper hearts and turned them into a matching game for practicing capital and lower case letters.

Heart Match-up Alphabet Game

I simply scrambled all of the pieces, and Owen put each heart together with the correct capital and lower case match.  I didn’t make the whole alphabet – just the letters that he has learned to far in his Get Ready for the Code and Get Set for the Code phonics books, plus a few more. Heart Match-up Alphabet Game

For beginning readers, it would be fun to make this game with word families.  For example “b” on one half and “at” on the other half.

Be sure to check out our family mail system also – this has been a great way to encourage writing in our house!
