Folding Surprise Drawing Valentines

Grab some paper and markers and make these folding surprise drawing Valentines!

My 10 year old daughter came up with the idea for these folding surprise drawing Valentine’s Day cards. Every year, she makes some kind of Valentine card for her friends. She has handed out Cat Valentines and Horse Valentines and even Hidden Message Valentines.

These Valentines require a little bit of drawing skill. If you want an easy Valentine card to print, you’ll want to go with one of the ones I linked to above.

But for kids who like to draw, these Valentines are unique, fun, and can be personalized for each friend!

How do Folding Surprise Drawings work?

These cards look like the have a simple heart on them, but that heart is draw across a fold line in the paper. Then when you unfold the card, there’s actually a whole line of hearts! So fun!

Supplies Needed for Folding Surprise Drawing Valentines:

Paper – quality copy paper is great, and card stock works well too
Markers
Envelopes
Scissors
Ruler
Pencil

Step 1: Choose the width you want for your cards. I measured our envelopes and they were 4 inches. I decided to make our cards 3.5 inches wide so that they would easily fit in the envelopes.

I cut a 3.5″ strip of paper lengthwise, so the strip is 3.5″ x 11″.

Step 2: Fold your strip of paper in half, but really it needs to be a little more than halfway. The bottom layer should be a little shorter than the width of your envelope so the card will fit inside.
