Animal fans will love these fun LEGO® projects! Build adorable pets out of LEGO bricks. We’ve got building instructions for cats, dogs, guinea pigs, parakeets (budgies), lizards, and more.

The fun thing about LEGO pets is that they don’t need to be fed and they don’t make a mess! Ha! Plus, they are just so cute. Build accessories for them like a food dish for a dog or a cage for the guinea pigs.

Let’s start with some of our favorite animals – dogs!

DOGS

LEGO Pets!

Building instructions for our LEGO® dogs are in three posts: LEGO Dachshund and Mastiff. (Note that the dachshund has complete instructions, but the mastiff does not. I had sick kids that week. It does have photos from multiple angles!)

You can also find instructions for building a LEGO terrier dog here. These are the dogs pictured above.

And then there are instructions for building LEGO puppies here. The puppies are a great beginner project.

CATS

You can find building instructions for the cats here: LEGO Cats

These little kittens have an adorable amount of personality. I didn’t want to take these down once we made them! But eventually we needed the parts for other things… sniff…

GUINEA PIGS

LEGO Pets! Building Instructions for Dogs, Cats, Guinea Pigs, Fish, and More!

Build some guinea pigs with a cage and a water bottle! You can find instructions for the guinea pigs here: LEGO Guinea Pigs Building Instructions.

PARAKEETS

We call these birds parakeets here in the US, but in other parts of the world they are budgies. One of my sons owns two budgies and they are just the best! He designed these LEGO budgies which are truly almost as cute as the real thing.

LIZARD

Gresham designed this little lizard when he was 9 years old, and I love it!

GOLDFISH

LEGO Pets Building Instructions

We didn’t have enough clear bricks or windows to make a fish tank, so Aidan decided to use a few clear bricks under the fish to make him to look like he’s swimming.

Step 1: Find a 2 x 3 brick and two 2 x 2 inverted slope bricks.

Step 2: Add a 2 x 4 plate, two 1 x 2 plates, and a 2 x 2 plate (photo shows two more 1 x 2 plates).

Step 3: Add two 1 x 1 bricks with a stud on the side and eyes. We used yellow but orange would be even better. Add a 1 x 2 – 2 x 2 bracket and a 2 x 3 brick.

Step 4: Attach a 2 x 2 slope to the bracket on the front of the fish. Add a 1 x 2 brick and a 2 x 3 slope. The find the three bricks shown below the fish.

Step 6: Add a 2 x 3 wedge plate on each side for the fins. Built the top fin with a 2 x 3 plate, a 1 x 2 plate, and two 1 x 3 curved slope bricks. Behind that add a 1 x 2 brick and a 1 x 2 plate with one stud on top.
